Last Updated: August 30, 2016

We have been healing and protecting children and families since 1998, and we know that privacy is an important part of our relationship with our clients. This is why we are committed to advancing a safe environment for the users of our services, both in the home and online. We collect only that information about our website users and their activities on our website as is necessary to help us provide families with a positive experience in furtherance of our mission as a not-for-profit organization.

This Privacy Policy describes how we use, share, and protect information that we collect from you online through childfirst.com (the “Website”) and other sites that link to this Privacy Policy.

By using the Website you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use Agreement.

  1. Privacy Policy Updates

Due to the rapidly evolving nature of web-based technology, we may need to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If so, we will post our updated Privacy Policy on this page. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy which affect our collection, use, or sharing of your Personal Information (defined below), we will indicate this when we publish our revised policy. Small changes or changes that do not significantly affect individual privacy interests may be made at any time and without prior notice.

We encourage you to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Website and/or continued provision of Personal Information to us will constitute your acceptance of such change and will be subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.

  1. Information Collection and Use

    1. Personal Information

However, to use certain features of the Website, you may choose to provide us information about you such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, or credit card information (collectively, “Personal Information”). We may also collect certain information that you provide when you contact us or voluntarily provide us with feedback.

  1. Aggregate Information

Like many websites, we may track the total number of visitors, the number of visitors to each page of the Website, browser type, IP addresses, external websites linked to, as well as information related to your use of our Website (collectively, “Aggregate Information”). We may analyze this data for trends and statistics in the aggregate, but such information will be maintained, used, and disclosed in aggregate form only, and it will not contain Personal Information.

  1. Payment Data

Child First is a non-profit organization and relies in part on donations to allow us to perform our mission. For this reason, we provide our visitors the opportunity to make a donation online. We have partnered with PayPal.com to permit you to make your donation using your PayPal account or a credit card. When you make your donation, you provide PayPal your PayPal account information and/or your credit card and billing contact information. This information is collected and stored by PayPal and/or its third party payment processors, and we may collect some limited information, such as your postal code and details of your transaction history. These third parties generally provide us with some limited information related to you, such as a unique token that enables you to make additional purchases using the information they’ve stored, and your card’s type, expiration date, and last four digits. The use of your data by PayPal and/or its third party partners is subject to PayPal’s privacy policies and terms of use.

  1. We Do Not Knowingly Collect Information from Children

Our Website is not intended for use by children 13 and under. Therefore, you must be at least 14 years of age to use the Website. If you are under the age of 14, please do not send us any information about yourself to us (including, without limitation, your name, address, telephone number, credit card information, or e-mail address). In the event that we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a person under the age of 14, we will delete that information as soon as reasonably practicable. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a person under the age of 14, please contact us at info@childfirst.org.

  1. Cookies

In operating our Website, we may log information using “cookies.” Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website. Cookies help us improve your experience on our Website. By using the Website, you consent to the transfer of such information to such employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations.

Finally, we will disclose your Personal Information (i) when we reasonably believe we are required to do so by law, regulation, or other government authority or when we deem it appropriate or necessary to provide such information to law enforcement authorities, (ii) to enforce our Terms of Use, (iii) to protect and defend the rights or property of Child First, or (iv) to protect the safety of our employees, agents, or users of the Website.

We use Aggregate Information to analyze trends, administer the Website, track users’ movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Our purpose in collecting such information is to better understand how our visitors use the Website. From time to time, we may also release (e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the Website) or sell such aggregated information to outside companies or organizations.

  1. Do Not Track

Child First does not track our Website visitors across third-party websites for the purpose of providing targeted advertising. Accordingly, Child First does not respond to Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals.

Some third-party sites do, however, keep track of your browsing activities when they provide you content so that they can tailor the content they send you. Therefore, you should consider setting the DNT signal on your browser so that these third parties know you do not want to be tracked.

Third parties that have content embedded on the Website may set cookies on a user’s browser and obtain information about the fact that a web browser visited a specific Child First webpage from a given IP address. Third parties cannot collect any personally identifiable information you have provided to us through the Child First Website unless you provide it to them directly.

Security

We are committed to protecting our users’ information. While we take reasonable data protection precautions, no security measures are completely effective, and we do not guarantee the security of user information at any time.
